38th anniversary of Stoke City gig on Sat 17th May

Post by pag »

This Saturday its 38 years to the day since Yes played at the Stoke City Victoria ground on May 17th 1975.
As luck would have it we are experiencing the same grotty weather as we had forty years ago!
The gig was memorable for the torrential rain that eventually broke through the awnings covering
the stage and the generators.
Steve Howe was wary of getting electrocuted with some justification as the rain was blowing into the
stage.
There are odd photos of the Relayer tour where the monitors etc. have polythene sheets over them...
thats Stoke City.
the show ended after about an hour or so with a few delays to check the equipment.
Jon valiantly struggled to get the band to return for a quick Roundabout and then the gig ended.
Jon also promised to trurn to do a free concert but that never happened.
But for the added expense I would have gone to Loftus Road the previous week to see the QPR show.

Anyone else here go to the Stoke show?
