Bass cover clip - "The Solution"

Post by miguelbass »

Dear friends,

here is my latest cover - "The Solution" from the Open Your Eyes album.
I used a Portuguese made bass, made by JP Custom guitars.
Hope you like it!

Wow! Very nice work,of course, and the bass itself has a wonderful tone! (Active pickups,i presume?)
Your low open string especially sounds fab.

Well done! I like the tone and the look of that bass.

Seems like the video loses the picture after about 5 minutes though. At least it does for me...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

The pickups are active "Kent Armstrong". I believe that it's a relatively known manufacturer but I hadn't heard of them before.

After the video is missing it's time to "Open Your Eyes" ;)

Thank you Stephen, CJ and Woody!

Kent is the son of Dan Armstrong of some weird guitar fame!

Miguel, great job again. Love the sound of that bass. What gauge strings? They all look like larger gauge.

Are we going to play Name That Bass Tune with the last 15 minutes?

Thank you very much, John, Jeff and Tom!

I think you will easily guess the tunes :) I was wondering if anyone would go as far as when the birds start chirping!
The strings are Elixir and the gauges were almost the same as the regular rotosounds I use. The B string .135
I will confirm these with the owner because I don't have the bass with me now.

Thanks William! Glad you found that part :)

John, the strings are Elixir Nanoweb #14052 .045-100 plus the B-string is .130
Then the strings have that coating, maybe it makes them visually a bit fatter? The felt ok to me although I prefer the .105.

I prefer a .125 for my B string on my 5 string, .130 just a little too thick for my taste. but whatever ... the way you use them is fantastic!
