I put one of my clips on a bass cover contest...

Post by miguelbass »

I was recently invited by gigg.com to enter a bass cover competition, so I decided to enter with my video of "Heart of the Sunrise". If you have the time please vote on the link below (registration needed). You can vote every day. If this is too much trouble for you, and I understand perfectly, just watch the clip or share this link with your friends. Thank you very much!

By the way, the prize seems to be something like a work session with Lee Sklar!

I am glad you posted this here. With all the free entertainment and motivation you have provided for us over the years the least we can do is log in once a day to vote.

I registered and voted (to save others time looking, click on the little "person" icon in the upper right of the screen to start the registration process). I'll try to do it once a day. (Miguel, if you don't mind, please add a reply to this thread once a day so that those of us who are notified of new posts can use that daily post/notification as a reminder to vote each day.)

Good luck! It is a wonderful video! Let us know how it turns out.

thank you Tony , Stephen!

Ok, I will add some replies here as reminder, if that is ok with everyone. If not, please let me know.
Meanwhile I'm studying "Turn of the century" - let's see how it goes. I'd like to ask a different bass to a friend of mine, one that goes up to high f sharp, or else I have the Warwick Thumb 5.

Thanks Stephen!

I wish the final voting was made by a real jury... but it seems that it's just based on the power of votes.
It's obvious that the criteria is not the video itself but the capacity of gathering friends to vote, which basically depends of how many people you have on social networks etc, so I don't really expect to win. In any case I think it will some people to discover Yes music and that's good enough for me!

Of course I voted again today.

What I don't know is how your "competition" is doing...what sort of vote counts do they have?

They seem to count the daily votes, likes/shares on facebook, tweets which mention the link for the video and page views.

After August 8 they will reset all scores and seed the top entries to enter a kind of knock-out rounds...
the funny thing is if you read the rules, they start with a knock-out of the best 64 and so forth until the final... but so far there are only 19 contestants so I am guessing they will change the rules in the meantime...

So, here's the reminder for the bass cover competition.

You can vote there if you have registered but you don't have to. You can also share/like on your facebook or twitter.
