Relayer...REMIXED by S.W.
Relayer...REMIXED by S.W.
The guessing is over...the next Yes album to get the Steven Wilson treatment is Relayer. Like many people, I feel that Relayer will greatly benefit from the remix magic that Mr. Wilson does so well. Can you imagine the album in 5.1? Yee haaw!
I was a bit surprised that Fragile or Tales was not the next album but I am happy as long as Steven keeps 'em coming!
Release date: Nov 3.
Cha cha cha!

Will be my first as well - I am very curious to see how Gates will turn out, especially because I always preferred the Yesshows version. That also made listen to Relayer from start to finish quite less than it deserved, I know... but I started listening to the studio Gates and thought Yesshows was much more powerful...

Wow! I am surprised Miguel!
I heartily recommend the other Steven Wilson Yes CDs...one can HEAR so much more! Just the stereo re-mixes alone are stunning and worth the price. And the extras and the 5.1 mixes are bonuses.

It will be great to hear To Be Over without that hum at the start.
The 5.1 should reveal some of the mayhem lost within the mix on sound Chaser and Gates.
Cant wait for a 5.1 mix of TFTO.
Thats a gem waiting to be unearthed.

I remember that hum, when the first CDs of it came out. I was so disappointed with the quality of that disc that I gave it away.pag wrote:It will be great to hear To Be Over without that hum at the start.

What's funny, is that that hum is finally cleared up on the Rhino reissue, but oddly not on the recent HD Tracks super hi-def download. But I guess the point of the HD releases is to put out the "flat" master tapes, more or less warts and all. But that would've been an easy fix. Or maybe they sourced the HD from a later tape generation. (The hum is clearly audible at the end of "Gates Of Delerium" too, and bridges "Sound Chaser" and "To Be Over," and is definitely 50 cycles and not 60, so I guess it got in there somewhere on your side of the pond.) Weird, either way. I guess anyone with Audacity or something like it could filter it out at home, but still. That's a lot of $/£ for that hum. (I went back to the Rhino editions on my iPod for portable pleasure listening because I just can't hear a significant improvement.)
I'm looking forward to being able to hear some Patrick Moraz on "Gates..." for once!
Re: Relayer...REMIXED by S.W.
I finally had the space to listen to the re-mix.
Stunning.
As with Wilson's other efforts, I heard things I had never heard before. Everything I liked about the old version is still there. Everything I disliked about the old version is gone. The greyish-brown "smutz" has been stripped away. The brilliance remains.
The man is a genius.
