Interesting - doesn't sound like the usual suspects (Ventures, Shadows...)
For no special reason except something about the drums (I think) I'll take a shot at my (almost) namesake, Dave Allan (and the Arrows?)

Not Dave Allen and the Arrows or Chet Atkins. You are looking for groups rather than a single named artist for this one.
