could be a tough one to crack this Freddy Cannon
Re: Cover The Hits #27
As the piano player is very good I'll guess the Nashville Teens
Re: Cover The Hits #27
Well this one was a bit of a bust. It was probably a bit too difficult. This version of the Chuck Berry classic was performed by southern fried rockers "The Outlaws".

Re: Cover The Hits #27
Must be newer Outlaws. I'm fairly familiar with their 70s stuff, and this doesn't sound like them.
Ka is a wheel.
Re: Cover The Hits #27
I would query that as t is not The Outlaws from USA but the Joe Meek group The Outlaws who released a number of fine singles in 60s this one is allegedly from 1964 but I dismissed it as I assumed no one but me would have heard of them.
Can you confirm this David

I'm a bit confused on this one Roy. Upon reflection, this cannot be the Outlaws that we are so familiar with here in N.A but they're not the Joe Meek group either. It seems that these "Outlaws" were a rockabilly group from Toledo, Ohio and should not be confused with the southern fried rockers from Florida.royclough wrote:I would query that as t is not The Outlaws from USA but the Joe Meek group The Outlaws who released a number of fine singles in 60s this one is allegedly from 1964 but I dismissed it as I assumed no one but me would have heard of them.

That would most certainly explain the sound of the recording and the onus on piano instead of guitars. It was apparently recorded live at the Bull Fiddle in Toledo.
So, there we go. It's a different American "Outlaws". I hate when that happens. Sorry for the confusion.

still qualifies David but nobody would have got it.

Another one that was too difficult for our lot, except Roy.

Re: Cover The Hits #27
No too difficult for me I had an idea it may have been The Outlaws the Joe Meek produced group because a version was credited to The Outlaws (1964) but it did not sound like them and has David has confirmed it was not them.

Yes and in that sense Roy, it was totally unfair so my apologies to all concerned.royclough wrote:still qualifies David but nobody would have got it.
