Cover The Hits #33

Post by admin »

From Peter McCormack

Cover The Hits #33

For 5 points Who had the original hit, who composed it, who played what solo instrument in the original hit and name the group singing this version?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Composed by John Phillips, if i'm not mistaken. No idea about the instruments, sorry.
This version is performed by the Beach Boys.

Not sure about the original - I think Roger McGuinn plays (Rickenbacker electric!)12-string on this version.

I can only find four points in your question, Peter :)
You didn't ask for the title, which is California Dreaming... 8)

I'm not Nick, but still.
A little bit from Wikipedia: "In thanks to Adler, they sang the backing vocals to "California Dreamin'" on McGuire's album This Precious Time. The Mamas and the Papas then recorded their own version, using the same instrumental backing track to which they added new vocals and an alto flute solo by Bud Shank. McGuire's original vocal can be briefly heard on the left channel at the beginning of the record, having not been completely wiped".
