Obscure minute detail question of the year Part TWO (tuners)

Post by collin »

Does anybody know roughly the month/period that Ric switched from single line Kluson tuners to double lines?

From what I've seen, most all 1964 models have single lines, but I've seen the odd late '64 with double lines, and I'm not sure if they were added after the fact..? Just wondering if there is some cross-over at all?

Anybody with original mixed (Single and double) on the same guitar?

When Rickenbacker changes details on midels, there is usually (if not always) a cross-over period, so it may not be easy to tell.

Ooh! I love this detail oriented stuff. I don't have anything to add, but I'll be watching!

My November '64 460 has a mix of single and double line Klusons, although I'm almost certain that the double lines are replacements.

BTW, if anyone has four single lines from this period (2 left, 2 right) that they're willing to part with, send me a PM!

My '64 1000 is September, and currently with Paul W. Perhaps he can chime in and remind me which it has?

Righto.

Well, the only instances of double line Klusons on '64's is some in late November/early Dec. and even then there is "cross-over." I guess it's safe to say that, on the whole, all '64s have single line Klusons.

...now I need to round up some original single lines.
(I have plenty of original doubles....they don't seem to hard to come across).
