OK which is more valuable? 33012 question?
I have a deal going between 2 66 330/12's. Roughly the same price. Identical in all respects, mint condition. Flat pole neck P'ups. Great neck angle. etc. one is MG. one is FG
Which is the better way to go from a Value perspective?

I see more 330-12 FGs coming up on ebay from the mid-'60s, and the MGs less so. So you could say the MG finish is rarer.
I would say, however, that value-wise they are about the same, with FG possibly having the edge as the more popular of the two finishes. Folks always talk about that great Fireglo finish; you don't hear MG finishes praised unless the wood is highly figured. On the other hand, if you are going to be playing it, FG tends to show finish wear more than MG.
Either way you'll be getting a really nice vintage guitar!

Welp. I went for the FireGlo. I'm a traditionalist, I wanna be George Harrison, and Pete Townshend. I admit it. I thought I could go MapleGlo but...

Well you are certainly not alone in that regard! Frankly, if it wasn't for Roger McGuinn, I think the MG finish on Rick guitars would have been a very distant 2nd to FG.

The only MG models I'd ever want to own is a 60s NS 360/12...or a McGuinn signature. I can't really dig MG any other way.libratune wrote:Well you are certainly not alone in that regard! Good on you for getting the FG. There are a few of here who love it (Kevin Kuney for one!) to death.

Well here it is. It is in the register under 26xx. I will try to get some pics up.
So let me try describe it. This is the most amazing sounding, supple, easy playing 12 string I have ever had the pleasure to lay my hands on. I hate to say this but my V64 and my C63 were complete dogs compared to this guitar. They just don't make em like this anymore. Period. It is flawless a complete time capsule guitar. It seems virtually unplayed and yet totally broken in at the same time. It has a perfect thin neck, flat bottom neck pickup, beautiful maple, and an acoustic tone to die for. Then you plug it in and WOW!!
Blow my mind. Why can't they make them like this anymore??

As someone who's generally not a fan of FG, that guitar is sweet!
Can we have everything louder than everything else?
