Your Own Band?

Post by indianation65 »

This subject came up elsewhere, and proved enlightening!
Instead of another, "Who's your favorite guitar player," question, how about, "Who would be in your band if you could put it together yourself?"

I have to have two bands...
1. Hard rock band
Ansley Dunbar or Terri Bozzio on "drums"
Benjamin Orr (Cars) or Andy Taylor (Duran Duran) on bass
Ted Nugent or Jimmy Page, and Adrian Belew and me on "guitar"
Benjamin Orr, Young David Bowie voice or Ivan (Men Without Hats) and me on "vocals"
Jimmy Page/Bob Ezrin and me as "studio producers"

2. Alternative/new wave/eclectic band
Clem Burke (Blondie) or Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) both are incredible "drummers"
Mick Karn (Japan and Dali's Car) on "bass"
Johnny Marr (Smiths) or Peter Buck (REM) and Adrian Belew, and me on "guitar"
Benjamin Orr, Young David Bowie voice or Ivan (Men Without Hats) and me on "vocals"
Todd Rundgren/Steve Lillywhite and me as "studio producers"

me, Wahi', as the songwriter for both bands

This is a sit and ponder, go through your cds to remind yourself about your heroes, kind of question.
I need to add Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) has my hard rock vocalist, and Adam Ant to my new wave band!
After hearing early REM and the Winter Hours, and my love for cowpunk, I would have put Mitch Easter as my producer, but I think he'll probably still get tons of votes! I did love Steve Lillywhite's work!

I'm still working on it, but got interrupted this afternoon because I bought a 1962 Fender Concert amp. 8)

That's a BIG question.

I'll settle for a guitar, mostly backing vox role in my dreamt-up combo:

bass: Chris White or Macca
drums: Rob Hirst
guitar: David Gavurin
guitar: me
vox: Karen Bergquist *or* Chris Isaak

......I could think of some other ace combos, but this one would be great

Maybe Neil Clarke would want to sit in a bit too.

Bass - me, of course!
Support bass - Gary Willis
Drums - Danny Gottlieb
Keyboards - Chick Corea, Scott Kinsey
Guitars - Steve Hackett, Wayne Johnson, Chieli Minucci
Vocals - Annie Haslam & Basia
Violin - Joe Deninzon

Of course, this is all subject to change without notice as we strive to constantly improve our product.

Bass guitar — Lemmy
Keyboards — Ray Manzarek
Drums — Don Henley
Flute — Ian Anderson
And anybody who'd want to join in.

The Santa Monica Flyers. Neil Young, Talbot and Molina of Crazy Horse, Jack Nitzsche on keys, Ben Keith on steel. I'd take Nils Lofgren's place and just play solos and drink tequila.
