Jeff,
Understood on eq'ing it differently. Darker & warmer in tone, I agree 100%, I'd go as far as to say, much more bass heavy. Brian told me after I got the bass that I'll need to eq them vastly different in order to get the sound I was looking for. There in is the rub, out of the box a 4003 provides me with the sound I crave, with no mad scientist tweeking of the abundance of knobs and push buttons that damn GB head had. Half of which I had no clue as to what they did. Next rehearsal may be in a different room on a Hartke head so it's back to the drawing board on tweeking? No time for that. I was toying with purchasing an Orange TB500 but the cabs in the studio are rated for 350. Kinda playing Russian roulette with their 350 rated speaker and my 500 w head. Not that I plan on getting that loud!

If I wanted to up the ante in the arms race, I could lug my 4x10 cab to the rehearsal and make everyone deaf, but I'd need a new back in short order since the studio is on the second floor, no elevator.
