Well done, Peter and Gil (and to anyone else who may have contributed). I think the extra capabilities with this board outweigh the familiarity of the old one. And having the option to use the old "mapleglo" color scheme is helping me retain some of that familiarity factor.

Sheena, yes, I already changed the colors. That helps a little. But it doesn't change how the new forum works.

Peter, as I've alluded elsewhere - you've made a bold (and necessary) upgrade.
And no one admires all the work you've done more than I.

I guess it's sort of like the family that moves. The parent may have a better paying job. They may live in a bigger house. But there is a certain melancholia to get over.

Yep, this playground has four swing sets instead of three, and a new slide too, but it doesn't that old climbing tree we used to climb....

Perhaps some have found the old monkey bars Elys, as we are now up to 5 percent!

Technically speaking - the new platform is so powerful it is possible to write a theme that will be an exact copy of the old forum. The problem is that it is ALOT of work as it requires writing everything from scratch. (The "old forum" style is the same as the normal style - but with the old color scheme).

Soon - I will have some more time (I landed from Frankfurt 1 hour ago, it is 5AM in Israel, I have no life right now, whatsoever) and I will start to take orders (do you want mushroom on top?).
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Hope you had a fun trip! Isn't Pete Heinzel great? He has been a very good friend to me, and if I had not gotten sick at the wrong time, I would have met him and his family too in Frankfurt this past winter, and picked up a couple of vintage Ricks I bought in Germany with his help. A truly great guy, that Pete!

Isn't open source PHP great? :D Especially with someone who is as competent with PHP as you

Pete is amazing!
In a few hours after I'll have some sleep I'll post more about our meeting, but I can tell you now - he is one of the nicest people I met.

PHP is great, and thanks for the compliment :)
I served in the Israeli Air force as a unix sysadmin and I actually had the honor of serving together with one of the 2 founders of php! Andy Gutmans, he is now the CEO of Zend, The company behind PHP. He picked up the original PHP/FI, written by Rasmus Lerdorf and re-wrote the parser with another Israeli friend, Zeev Sureski whom he met in the "Technion" (Israel's MIT).
So long and thanks for all the fish!

I have a whole folder full, here are some samples as attachments but it would be nice to have them available as "smilies".
