Rickenbacher Electro B S/N C682

Post by rgordon »

I recently acquired a "Rickenbacher" (spelled that way on the headstock) Electro B Lap Steel S/N C682 - black bakelite w/chrome faceplate inserts. Has only a single pot/knob. Seems to be in very nice condition. It came w/a somewhat flimsy gray cardboard case (case is only in fair shape). It was represented as being vintage 1938... Not that I really care, but does that sound about right?

thx,

The vintage is more likely 1935-37 and was the earliest model Bakelite lap steel made by Rickenbacher. In 1937 a tone control was added to the opposite side of the pickup.
Thesse instruments sound fabulous and are highly sought after by collectors and players.
