Post by flavour »

G'day and its great to be a new member. Just wondering about silver hawaiians.....I want to purchase one and have been flat out trying to research them and stumbled across this web-site. Trying to find out if a Ricky is pre-war or not seems to be debatable. Does anyone know what the specs of the post war silvers are? Did any have 1 1/2" pick-ups? I am starting to think that some pre-war parts flowed across to the post war models.Cheers and thanks :D Jay

The postwar Silver Hawaiian is actually called the Model G or Deluxe Hawaiian. It was first produced in 1949-50. They are very ornate and have a headstock cover. Much of the hardware is gold plated. They all had 1.25" pickups. They were discontinued in 1957.

The prewar Silver Hawaiian was produced from 1937-43. The later models had 2 knobs on the treble side.

There are picture of these and many other Rick lap steel on this website.
