I had never stopped in a local pawn shop so Monday I had the time. There behind the counter was an open case and a Rickenbacker double neck lap steel! They had $1395 on it which I thought was really high. This guy behind the counter saw me looking and walked up. I played dumb and said, "I didn't know Rickenbacker made lap steels!" He replied, "Yeah, really nice, made in Germany." I couldn't let that pass so I politely said Rickenbacker was located in Santa Ana, CA and always had been. We said a couple more comments about the instrument and I moved on. They also had an Acoustic 230 guitar head that was in really nice shape for $300, but being for guitar and flush with amps, I passed. Guess I'll have to stop in every once in a while and see what they have. The lap looked a whole lot like this one, and of course they had no knowledge about the "German" lap.

Re: Lap Find in the Zoo
How many strings per neck?
Re: Lap Find in the Zoo
Hi Richard. There were eight strings on each of the two necks. I looked to be in really nice shape, and the case was pretty decent with usual wear for its age.
Re: Lap Find in the Zoo
Richard, it looks just like this one, but everything on the one here is in better shape, especially the case.
