Yo Shatzy! Got a string question.

Post by jdogric12 »

Richard, I'll appreciate your good advice on this... everyone else please chime in too of course. I want to restring my steels and would like opinions on what to get. Here's what I'm going for:
Gretsch cheapie lap, Nashville C6 tuning
'38 Rick lap, open E tuning, need tight gauge due to low pu clearance
'63 Rick lap, no ideas yet, i'm all ears

Thanks! J

Hey Landsman,
The strings need to be setup relative to the scale length and the notes being tuned. I think all the instruments you want to string are 22" to 23" scale length. I usually tune E or D, and for those tunings I use D'Addario half round 13-56. I haven't done C6 yet.
Check out Brad's Page of Steel and the Steel Guitar Forum for that and every other tuning known.
