Re: first year model b help
Just found another close serial number with plates that are also glued on. Good to know that some were not screwed on. On ebay now.

Re: first year model b help
Hey folks -- been absent from forums for a little bit. Anyway, I have a little collection of unusual roundneck bakelite rickenbachers. The first one I got is pretty unusual in that it only has four chrome panels, missing the middle one. This is because it's early, like really early. The serial is B20, yep. The first run of steel and spanish Bs did indeed have B prefixes. 1935 and maybe 1936. Sometime I should post some photos here. Any other info I can give?
Re: first year model b help
Just an update for to show some progress on my bakelite. Phil Petillo helped me with the missing plates; he made them out of brass and nickel plated them all. He gave me options such as aging the new ones and leaving the old ones with original plating, versus what I got. We also talked about screwing in the plates versus glueing them back in place, but it was the glue that caused the lost plates in the first place! The discussion always came down to is this to play or for a museum.
