I've seen these on Ebay any number of times. I wouldn't be interested at any price.
I really don't know anything about them. I've never read anything about them.
This could be a Regal made instrument.
Check The Steel Guitar Forum, Steel Without Pedals section.
If there is anything know about a lap steel, that's the place to find it.

$300 is on the high side of retail for this instrument. There is noting outstanding about the sound, and it left the factory with that finish.
