Hmm. If it's up and running by MARF, maybe a Rick steel/mandolin duet is in order. J-dog...?

John, I see you've learned more about this since last night - I guess I was right with the B6 and post-WW2. Looks like you bought it "right" too. Congrats!

G. We'll take turns playing the melody, switch on/off between the chords.

It is great to see more of these lapsteels surface as of late.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Got the steel last night. I strung it up and it plays nice, but I'm not getting any sound from it (though I can hear the scratching of the pots when I move them). No multimeter around, so I'll have to wait 'till Saturday for a diagnosis.

Where are the serial numbers on these?

The smell reminds me of my Grandparents' basement - which leads me to believe that it was possibly in a flood?

Either way, it's a really cool piece of history that I'm really looking forward to playing. :)

Well, it's not pretty to look at, but thanks to John Allgaier, it is now up-and-running and it sounds great!

Here's a clip (taken by a Garner) from the first time I plugged it in (through a bass amp!) at MARF:
