Marc,
Another option is to buy a cheep old guitar with the correct tuners.
I've done that 2 or 3 times on Ebay.
When the auctions were finished, I contacted the sellers and told them to send only the machines and screws. I actually payed only slightly more than you will be paying for the replicas. At that time the replicas weren't being made.

Here's a perfect example.

Well, I got the tuners today and tried to install them. They are a tight fit, and I had to lightly bang them in but now the problem is they turn too tightly. Not sure what to do...that and the screws don't fit :(

Maybe I should use this frying pan for scrambled eggs...

I guess the replicas aren't exact. That's too bad.
I would resist the urge to drill, but there are round files that might help if the size difference is small.
Better yet, just buy old ones.

No need to drill really, they're just tight, but Richard i guess I found out the hard way...

my concern with buying an old guitar is the tuners might be no good on that one, defeating the purpose.

ha ha..now that I have these tuners, I guess I can buy an old guitar, use the old tuners, then sell it with the replacements.

Really shoulda listened to ya Richard. The issue with these replicas is the posts are too thick and won't slide all the way into the headstock.

I'll have to keep my eyes out for an old set somewhere.

Aside from Ebay another source is antique/junk stores and pawn shops.
It just takes some time and effort looking around.
Good luck.
BTW there's a rig on Ebay with an asking price of $4900.
It doesn't look as good as the one you have.

Thanks Rich..unfortunately, right now, the frying pan is out of service until I find tuners because I don't want to string it up with the originals again...and it's not like I'm concerned about neck warp-age..I'll put a message up in Rick wanted section too. One never knows.

My latest search uncovered these:

I know I can take the posts off the originals, but how do I know the gears will line up?

:( It's always something

The coolest looking amp ever made is the Epiphone Zephyr. NJMHO :)
