1964 Electro EH-1
Here is my new Ebay find. The serial number is DA60. That places it's birth in January 1964.
The pickup is weird! I thought it was a toaster top without the chrome. NO, there are magnets on either side of the pole pieces. Looks like a very early Higain.

Cole,
That's great that you posted the photos of this little known (at least to me) model with that pickup. I'm pretty sure that's the last lap steel Ric made. I'd love to see photos of the magnet configuration. Post a sound clip if you can.
Thanks,
Richard

Mine, from 1960 (A Rick, not Electro...not much difference I can see...):

No there is not a lot of difference. I noticed that too when I was hunting. Love the MG finish though! All the Electros I've seen are the red like mine.
Re: 1964 Electro EH-1
I'm really glad to see a thread on the EH-1. I can't ever recall any discussion of this model on any of the forums I frequent or any description in any books.
I agree with John that the only ones like this I have seen were red.
I played one of these for a few minutes about ten years ago. The pickup was strong, but lacking something that the horseshoe pups had. Still a good lap steel.
