I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Console 500 - triple 8 string on ebay
A three horsepower guitar!
Re: Console 500 - triple 8 string on ebay
Or, would that make it a six legged horsepowered guitar?
Re: Console 500 - triple 8 string on ebay
Since this one is still up on ebay, I'll go ahead and ask, what is one of these actually worth? Is the $1950 BIN reasonable, or wishful thinking?

That's a pretty snazzy setup and looks to be in fine shape with original case. I'm no expert on these, but I don't think the demand is there to support that price. IMO, something in the $1250 area would be more realistic.cjj wrote:Since this one is still up on ebay, I'll go ahead and ask, what is one of these actually worth? I'm with Ron on this one...these are beautiful and two or three seem to come up every year on Ebay, but demand is low.
Re: Console 500 - triple 8 string on ebay
Thanks! $1250 sounds a lot better than $1950, of course, who knows what the guy might think about that. I keep think one of these would be fun to have and play around with, of course, $1250 is still a bunch change...

Two years ago it might have gone for $1800 or a little more.
The economy, in case you haven't noticed, sucks.
Steel guitar (non-pedal) is definitely gaining in popularity, but not so much in double and/or triple neck consoles like this.
It's hard to predict musical trends (markets), but I really don't think multiple neck non-pedal models will have much of a resurgence in the short to medium term. From what I hear even the new guitar market has contracted a lot in the last few years and that always translates to less demand for vintage equipment.
My feeling is you should buy what you know and love if you can afford what you want at any given time. I have been buying steels for almost 20 years, but never as an investment, only as a hobby.
If I were interested in that instrument, I'd go as high as $1500 in today's market.
JMNSHO as usual.

They've been gaining in popularity ever since then.
