Double 8 Lap Steel Rickenbacher / Electro

Post by libratune »

I have had this for a few years and am getting around to posting pics on the Register. I can't find any identifying marks that would indicate a date code or serial number. I suppose I could take the back plate off and look around, but I thought I would post this up here first and see if I get a response. I am not looking to sell, just looking for info re: model, date or era, rarity, desirability, etc. The string anchor plates have patent numbers stamped on them.

Thanks much.

Hey, John, thanks for the help! Now I am making progress -- I know it's a D-16 made in the late '40s to early '50s. I also have some idea as to value (when the market was better -- but who's selling now?!).

Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Postwar Rick lap steels didn't have any serial numbers until the mid-50s.
You're right that this one was produced in the late 40s to very early 50s.
