I really hate everything about the words in the subject line, but exceptions have to be made and superlatives need to be delineated, especially when they are still "cheap" and very collectible. Of all the postwar Rick lap steels, these don't get the respect they deserve.
I speak hereof the Academy and Ace models.
The both are one piece bakelite body instruments and have the famous/infamous horseshoe pickups.
I have several. They are all good and what I consider cheap.
There are several of these on Ebsy now.
None of them are mine and i don't have any interest in any of them, but I think that these are possibly some of the best post war Rick lap steels.

As a moderator, I hope i didn't break too many rules, but it is so unusual to see several of these available at one time, I just had to let everyone know.

Thanks, Richard. If it weren't for the fact that I'm busy putting together my home recording studio, I might conceivably have jumped on one of these deals.

Re: Fabulous Rare Birds
These things are the best kept lap steel secret.
Right now the prices of all vintage instruments are pretty depressed.
I would be too if i were trying to sell my collection, but these are phenomenal instruments.
The starting and bin prices are way too high on both of these given the current market.
That's good for people looking for a bargain.
They won't sell at even the starting price IMO.
$500-$600 max, but well worth more.

Re: Fabulous Rare Birds
I rather hope that Rick lap steel prices remain in that price range for another year. Such an instrument is on my wish list. Ahead of the lap steel are a good drum kit, and a Vox AC15.
