Trying to date this beautiful B6 HELP please!!

Post by twel »

Any help would be amazing and maybe a guess on what this thing may be worth. I happen to come across it after my grandmother passed away. She worked at a pawn shop many years ago and bought stuff like this. I was not sure exactly what it was until after some research. People on here have a passion for them so i figured this was the best place to start. Thanks, Tom!

Nice!

You should probably post this over in the Steel Guitar section of this forum since it's specifically related to guitars such as yours:

Rickenbacker Steels

Richard will be sure to see it there, he's pretty much an expert on these old Rick steels...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Now that you found the correct place to post Thomas I decided to merge the two topics and delete the duplicate post. Welcome to the forum btw. :D

Very nice example of a 1946-50 Model B.
In order to more closely approximate the date check the pot codes.
Does it have a case?

Yes it does have a case purple inside and from the looks of it, it appers to be the original. The only number i can find is the pat no. 2089171

The pot codes are numbers stamped into the cases of the volume and tone control potentiometers. These specify the date that the part was made and so can nail down when the guitar was made. To see these, you'll have to take things apart somewhat in order to see the back of them...
