1933-35? 7-string b model lap steel

Post by electro7yo »

Hey all ,

Thank you for taking a look . I am currently the owner of a very well used 7 string lap steel B model .The only seemingly original components beyond the body and kneck are the pots and possibly the 4 string machine head bank which is missing one tuner.I wish to find any leads and info on where to start finding the pieces for this era and style , as well as possibly narrowing down the year of production .

I cant even find a Pic of a 7 string B model.

Thank you all ,

Here are some pics of a 7-string pre-war model B: http://www.rickresource.com/register/vi ... lebrity%3D

The "T" logo on the headstock of your piece dates it to 1946 to 1955. There may also be a date code on one of the pots for a more precise dating.

This website has some good info on Rick lapsteels: http://home.provide.net/~cfh/rick.html#ricklaps

1946-1950-51 at the latest. After that the headstock logo was shaped like a spearhead.
You won't find the plates anywhere. You'll have to have them made.
The pickups are occasionally available, but the postwar tailpiece is only found on other postwar B7s.
There were no serial numbers on Rick lap steels of this era, so the pot codes are your only hope of narrowing down the date.
