Horshoe pickup resistance readings

Post by toneman »

Was wondering what the D.C. resistance reading on the BD-6 Bakelite I have should be. It has plenty of output and sounds really fine & big but the pickup reads 1.9K d.c. on my Fluke meter. Is that right?? I read pickups on my meter nearly everyday so I know it's not something that I'm doing wrong.
Thanks!

They do read low because the wire in the coil is larger diameter than later models. Larger diameter= less resistance per turn.
1.9K is a little lower than I have seen but in the low 2Ks is where most are at.
