I'm having a horrible time finding a replacement pickup that will fit into the horse shoe assembly on this rebuild I am doing. Do we know of any pickups that will work? Without needing to buy the entire horseshoe assembly? I can send this to have the Bobbin repaired and have the pickup rewound but I figured I should check here first because you fellas know more than me by default.

Thank you so much for this community, and thanks in advance for any advice.

I would just rewind the bobbin and pit some magnets beneath it, then mount it on a piece of aluminum bar stock with screw holes to fit beneath the assembly.

I still have the horseshoe magnets and all the assembly.

Yes you can have the bobbin rewound, then reassemble everything. You might also want to consider having the horseshoes remagnatized while It's apart.

Is there anyway to magnetize them myself?

There are several threads here on the RRF about re-magnetizing or re-charging Horseshoes. :) Do some searches on these Horseshoe topics and re-magnetizing or other similar words. There are also some talented people on the RRF, who know a lot about electronics and pickups, (like John A and CJJ and others) who might be able to assist you in getting these Horsies functioning again. Good luck.

I found them after I asked, sorry about that, so I'm screwed, the guy I sent the pickup to for repair/rewinding simply broke it... I won't get into it because I'm tired of being mad about it. Is there no bolt on pickup replacement that can be attached to the metal plate inside the mags? I have the entire assembly, only the bobbin is broken, is there no replacement?

Too bad this wasn't posted a bit sooner ... IIRC, there was an ad on the Portland (OR) Craigslist a couple of weeks ago for some old lap steel horseshoe pickups.

Unfortunately, the ad has expired (and apparently has not been reposted).

Since your coil has 6 poles, you could get a toaster, pull the magnets out, put in steel screws, then reassemble the horseshoe assemble. Use the magnet assembly of an old woofer to recharge the shoes.
