Please Identify This Electro Lap Steel

Post by admin »

Richard: Would you please identify this Electro Lap Steel and discuss some of its features? From the short history that I received, it would appear that it was made in the 1960s.

This is a Model 102, Fireglo finish. It is part of the 100 series, models 100, 102 and 105. The series was produced from 1955 to sometime in the early to mid 1970's. The model 102 with the Fireglo finish was only produced in 1961.
The 100 series are good instruments, as are most Rick lap steels. There is nothing to distinguish them from any other models that have 1.25 inch horse shoe pickups and they are not considered collectable at this time.
