I know that this model is called "Olde Ugly"
Can anyone date this guitar it's serial # is 28
and can be seen at my web site

Basil,
The serial number is no help, but this instrument was produced from 1946-53. The T-shaped logos on the headstocks indicates that it could have been made as late as 1950, when this logo was discontinued. The only way to date this instrument more precisely is by the pot codes.

Thanks Richard, I looked at the pot codes,
they are:-
33-010
-003
and
33-010
-107
These codes are on the side of the vol pots.
Is this info any use for dating my guitar ?

Basil,
These pot codes are no help. You need to have a 6 or 7 digit code without any dashes. As this guitar was made between 1946 and 1950, the pot code will most likely be 6 digits unless the pots were changed. Most of the time the code is on the flat side opposite the the adjustment pole.
