I was asked if I would post this request, initially posted on alt.guitar.rickenbacker.

Greetings,

I have an old Rickenbacher lap steel with an electrical issue. It has a single pickup with volume and tone controls. I removed the electronics and all seemed to make sense except the tone control. The first connection on the pot is sheilded, the wiper and third connection are soldered to the center conductors of two seperate wires. These wires then run off for about six inches and are taped together, but only the shielding is electrically connected. The center
conductors are left hanging, so to speak. My question is: should these wires be connected, or should there be a capacitor soldered to them, and if so, what value? I may be reached by cwsinst@aol.com as well. Many thanks in advance, Mike
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
