Lennon's '64 325/12 Serial number.
The only info I have suggests that the serial number is DI88.
September seems a little late in '64 to me. I know there are some online who are good with matching dates to photos. There are a few pics of the 325/12 being used on tour.
Or has anyone managed to get a decent look at the jackplate while visiting the Rock & Roll hall of fame at Ohio?.
Any opinions?

Yes....In 'The Beatles Anthology' video John Lennon uses the 325/12 in the television show appearances during the time Jimmy Nichol played drums while Ringo healed up from having his tonsils out. I think the footage is from when the Beatles played in Holland in late spring 1964, so that would predate Sept. 1964....If you have the video set check it out, for there are some good shots of Lennon's 325/12 in action.
I was at the Rock Hall a couple of weeks ago & scribbled down the SN.
It's: DB 151.
I've heard it said that Lennon ordered this guitar during the Beatles' meeting with Ric reps in New York- but I find it hard to believe they could take an order for a custom guitar, build it, and have it ready (finish & all) within the three weeks that remained of February after they arrived in NYC.

Tony: Thanks for the detective work.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Bump, for no particular reason.

11 years late, but according to Beatles Gear, the serial for the 325/12 is DB151.
Also a fun fact, the guitar still wears the stock strings!
EDIT: SN posted, man I really need to read through these threads more carefully!!

It's okay Jake, it's easy to miss things in these really long threads.
