360/12V64 -- Indigoblue?
I have two 360/12V64 guitars. One was made in 1998 and is most definitely Midnight Blue. The other was made in 1996 and is a very dark blue/purple. I have not seen another Rickenbacker guitar in this color. One reason for that may be that it is a very hard color to photograph – it usually turns out looking Jetglo.
The Register offers a color selection of “Indigoblue” (IND). I believe that would be the right color for this guitar. It is possible, however, that Rickenbacker never made such a color and that it is merely a darker shade of Midnight Blue.
I have recently taken some outdoor photos of the MID and IND guitars, alongside a 360V64 in JG to provide a contrast. I’d be interested to get your feedback on what appears to be an “Indigoblue” finish. Perhaps you have one of these yourself and could post a pic of it or comment. The (suspected)IND is the one in the middle: And finally, the best solo shot of the IND I could get -- this is pretty close to the true color:

I've never heard of IND. It looks like that color was included in the register for the one instrument (not counting your v64, Ron) that is labeled with it, a 50's Combo 600.
I would guess both your guitars are MID. It's entirely plausible to see such variations, especially with 2 years in between (an eternity in the Rick production universe). Remember the recent purplebursts and grayglos? I also recall something about MID being changed dramatically at some point, perhaps it was between 96 and 98?

I'm with Jdog. Variations of MID in my opinion.

Ron has a number of some of the most astounding Rickenbackers I've ever seen. The IND is another astounding guitar, my friend.
Jeff Scott - Have you ever been to Ron's place? You guys are pretty close to each other, eh?

Couldn't Eric just "accidentally" spray one of the C63s in MID?kennyhowes wrote:I'll take the one in the middle.

I have 2 4003 MID/BT's which show this enormous difference also.
I do consider both of these MID's.

This is a Midnight Blue from 1991 (Originally had black hardware).
