Nameplate For A Rickenbacker Case?

Post by Tommy »

I know and understand Ric's penchant for not selling certain Ric products in order to counter the counterfeiters. What I am looking for is a simple RICKENBACKER nameplate to put onto my case. I bought my Ric in 1990 and the cases did not come with those fancy RICKENBACKER nameplates. I've searched some parts places and no luck finding one.

Anyone know if they are available or where they can be purchased?
Thanks.

The case on top is what mine looks like.
I just want to attach a RICKENBACKER nameplate to my case so it looks like the one below.

My 1990 330 had a nameplate on the case but not my 1992 620/12.

Buy a vintage case, mask off the tag, and spray paint the rest of it black?

IIRC, only the black tolex Export cases had "Rickenbacker" tags on them. . . . Wait, I take that back; my '91 381/12 case has the badge on it.

Most of the black cases I have seen with nameplates have been from guitars with 1990 or 1991 production dates. My 1990 360/12V64 and a 1991 360/12WB I owned once had nameplates. I believe the silver reissue cases came along about 1991 and they got the nameplates after that with the black cases going back to being plain. The Rickenbacker silver Tolex briefcase I received from Jeffrey Foskett has a nameplate mounted with two small screws instead of the normal rivets.

Sounds right, Kevin. My 1991 330/12 has a nameplate on the case, but my 2010 360/12 does not.

It looks the same to me. Here's a 1964-ish B-14A with what looks to be a very similar nameplate to those on the cases:

It also looks a lot like the nameplate on this M-11A circa 1957:

Each of these plates is 5.0 in. x 7/8 in. The one on the 1957 has squared-off corners; the ones on the RI guitar case and 1964 amp have rounded corners.

Ditto. I've got a 1990 4003 w/black tolex case and want a nameplate. Will RIC sell me one if I prove I've actually got a Rick?

Seven years later, still looking, still haven't found a nameplate.
I probably could have found The Holy Grail in those seven years. Far easier than finding a RICKENBACKER nameplate for my case.

Any suggestions?
