What I was refering to is at 21:19. The person putting on the name plates says "good enough to be a RickenBOCKer".Rickissippi wrote:Dude changes it to the proper pronunciation about 35 seconds in when he's introducing JH. Someone (maybe JH) must have pointed it out to him.ken_j wrote:One of the RIC workers inn the video also called it RickenBOCKer.cjj wrote:But... he calls it RickenBOCKer...

Anyway, what caught my eye is the caption to the video on youtube:
Makes it sound like they got a chinese factory as well, imo!Rickenbacker's CEO/Chairman John Hall walks us through the process of building a Model 330 guitar and Model 4003 bass at their US Factory.

What a wonderful bit of video! Each area was fascinating. You were very kind to take the time to lead the tour and be interviewed, Mr. Hall. It gives me an even greater appreciation for my 2010 4003. It was so nice to see your son as well.
(And I also watched the footage of Mr. Hall on the Antiques Roadshow with the signed Beatles album. Charming!)
Thank you to Mr. Hall and Premier Guitar!

I must be as dense as the Maple you refer - I have no idea what you're talking about with the spear sharpening. I do appreciate however the subtle changes made to the product over time that do not detract from the heritage of same.johnhall wrote:We're back to using Walnut, which you should have to trouble spelling. That Maple was so hard it was wearing out all our tools, but of course the oiginal use of the process was by cavepersons who wanted to harden their spears.ricosound wrote:Retified Maple (SP?) neck lamintie stripe on the 330? So much for shedua or any of the the other guesses as to the "stripe" species. Likely another subtle improvement over the old methods while maintaining the heritage.
Along this vein this video highlights that things are not always consistant when assessing a Rick's lineage. The stripe change from walnut to maple for an indeterminent time and then back to walnut, and the fingerboard example of the "bubinga stragler from something" as they switch over to carribean rosewood as an example. Imagine the period of 1972-73 when things were less standardized. Proves most anything could be possible and there are no absolutes
