Sounds odd after so many years, but Guitar Center is once again a Rickenbacker dealer. Might be one of the better places to check out a new Rick.

Thanks, ideally looking for 80S/90s used

Is there an LA equivalent of Denmark St?

I remember going there in the 90s and there being loads of guitars shops on Sunset Blvd.

What model(s) are you looking for?

You should check the For Sale section here on the Forum, or start a thread in the Wanted section.

I have a friend going over for a few days in April, he used to live there, so knows the
area well, the timing's tight, and the logistics probably won't work for a classified.

Models?
320/6JG. 330/12JG, 360/6JG, 370/12MG
340/12MG (my number one choice)
those would be my best choices.
Not looking for perfect condition, but must be stock

He doesn't know anything about guitars so buying from a shop would be safer.

There must be used Rickenbacker dealers in or near LA somewhere?

I like stores but Craigslist has lots of deals. I realize April is still several months away mind you so following this page for a bit would be a good idea.

With Skype tech these days you should be able to be there virtually to have the guitar demoed for you. As long as the seller can play at least. The fact that the person paying for and picking up the guitar should not have to.

I myself was lucky enough to have an LA based forum member grab a guitar for me one time. perhaps someone reading this might offer to help?

A few that caught my eye.

Blueburst 330/12 - pretty sure the seller is a forum member here.

It used to be that the 7200-7500 section of Sunset Blvd. had a huge number of shops: Guitar Center, Sam Ash, Carvin, Mesa, Peavey, LA Guitar Sales, Freedom, Neely, and a whole raft of vintage guitar shops. I think that Carvin's moved to San Diego, and I don't know how many vintage shops are still there.

Sunset strip for guitar shops has dwindled to almost nil, except for Sam Ash and GC. Hands down, the best place to get a killer deal on new Rickenbackers is Graysons Tune Town in Montrose. Mom and Pop shop that already has lower tagged prices-usually $100-than anybody, and makes betterdeals when you start laying cash on the table.
I bring a few bands a year over from the UK to tour with and take them straight to Graysons to get their gear. It's hard for UK bands to bring their gear over because of their laws, so a lot of them fly over, buy the gear much cheaper here, and fly back with it as a used item to pay the least duties possible.
Anyways, get sorted at Graysons, best prices in So Cal.

I am surprised nobody mentioned these two shops that have lots of 8) Rickenbackers:

Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana

True Tone Music in Santa Monica

And the half dozen Sam Ash and Guitar Center stores in L.A. and Orange County all usually have a couple of Ricks.
