How many 325c58's were produced?

This came up over at the BeatGearCavernForum & after doing a Search I couldn't find an answer?

Anybody know?

No official production numbers have been released. There are 144 of them in the register.

That just means in the Register, right? Not actually how many total were built? Or does it?

I think there many produced. Isn't this the model that led to the RIC/Guitar Center fiasco?

I believe there were several factors, and the case upcharge thing was the last straw. But my memory is pretty foggy on this, it's been so long.
