cutout headstock / non cutoutheadstock on Rickys 12?

Post by juanch »

what do you guys prefer? cut-out or plain headstock? I must admit that cutout makes it easier to string but I prefer the old days look.

I wish mine were cut through. I have damaged my headstock (paint chips and nicks) because changing strings on the old style headstock is a task no human should be asked to do.

I don't feel old enough to say things like this, but I guess I am: when the new cutouts started, I had been doing 12er string changes for so long (since 1996) that I just kind of chuckled. I still prefer the old way.

Much prefer the cutout, looks wise and stringing wise.

I'm old school, no cutouts for me. Like Jdog said above, I guess I've been doing it long enough the old way that it isn't really a problem for me. I also just like the looks of the non-cutout versions.
