NAMM 2017

Post by stringsncords »

The annual NAMM Show is coming up in 3 weeks......

It seems like RIC is leaning toward producing small runs of specialty models and colors rather than adding to the general product line. In the last few years, we have had short runs of SkyGlo, Noir, Snow Glo, the 330 OS "Pumpkin Glo", and going back a few years, the Guitar Center Harrison series. Even Ruby has come and gone as a stock color. The only recent new "model" as I recall, is the 1993 Plus. Do you expect this to continue?

Is anyone excited? Is anyone going? What would you like to see?

Happy New Year to ALL!

I love these special short runs that RIC is doing these past few years. 8)

How about a couple of models in the Skyglo, plumglo, or that old eggplant burgundyglo from late'60s early'70s....
Maybe a 4003 in those finishes?

4003S-FL would be my choice.

So, NAMM is underway, and apparently there's nothing new. As a member of this forum for several years, I remember when NAMM was a can't-miss event; lots of forum members would take trips to the trade show, take photos, and report back with lots of pictures and posts.... There were new models, new colors, and lots of excitement associated with the show.

The Rick "community", and this forum, was ALIVE.

Now? Nothing at all to be excited about, but I guess the company is doing fine.

Maybe next year.

RIC does plenty of new stuff for their size. 1993+, 4003S, Ruby, custom colors, are recent things. Blame should go to the customers for not demanding or celebrating innovations.

It would be nice to see them put 650's and 4004's in some visible up and coming bands' hands, but hey that's their choice.

I was one of the people posting lots of pictures here, but that was when I had a regular job with vacation time that I could use to go to NAMM on Thursday and Friday. I'm stuck now going only on Saturday and Sunday, so I don't have any pictures yet! :(

Hey! I just noticed that this is my 12,000th post! Uncork the sparkling cider and ignite the fireworks!

So, when Rick does one of these Snoglo small runs, how do you secure your place in line for it? Do you have to have cash/credit card on hand, ready to pay up, and do you have to deal with a particular dealer, like maybe ROTR?

I know JPS has gotten at least one of these beauties, does it help to be buddies with him, and other VIPs here?

I/ve only gotten one; I missed out on the 4003 SNG.

You just have to contact whatever dealer is getting one and pay up.

I still want the heartbreaker 350MC. The 350 with a wide neck, thick body, 24 frets from namm a year or two ago.

I also recall a photo from some years back of some 3/4 size bodies stacked up, I would love to see the finished guitars those became.
