New Ric Acoustic

Post by wazzspace »

Hi All,

I thought I would post this here for all to see rather than in the deep bowels of another topic thread.

This extraordinary instrument was a parting gift from my Dad who passed away in August 2012 at the age of 99.

I only made Paul Wilzcynski's build deadline by a matter of days in early 2013 and is one of the very last Rickenbacker acoustic orders
he received before the end of the build contract Paul had for Rickenbacker.

I originally was thinking of a 700/C Comstock as that is all I had seen but then discovered the Shasta 700 models and decided at the last minute to change it to a Shasta/700S-12.

It took Paul almost 4 years to fulfil the order because of the huge work load he had but it's a masterpiece of exquisite craftsmanship beyond anything I could have imagined and
really no words describe how I felt when I took delivery.

The extraordinary blend of colours both front and back is amazing, A personal added touch is the bridge which has an Australian gem stone placed in the base of the specially built bridge.

I also had Paul fit an LRBaggs Anthem pickup as well and the incredible Ameritage Gold guitar case.

Tuning is an absolute dream but having the high strings on the other side of the Octave (Like the Rickenbacker Electric 12's) takes a little getting used to but
helps with that rich deep sound that Rics are known for.

Enjoy the photos and my eternal thanks to my precious Dad and to Paul Wilzcynski for making this amazing instrument a reality.

Great story Warren. I have an acoustic RIC bass from Paul W. Fabulous instrument. Enjoy and play the hell out of it for your father.

Thank you for the response, so many words have been spoken and written about the
great craftsman Paul Wilczynski and to actually see his extraordinary work in real life
just takes your breath away.

Yes, my dear incredible Dad would be smiling ear to ear and every time I play that instrument
I play it for him.

What a beautiful guitar! Your father had great taste! Sorry for your loss, though.
