Any good, competent pickup guy can do this. If you have any soldering skills, and lots of patience and care, you could do this, too. Without knowing where you are located we can't really provide useful referrals, though.

I’m not competent. I’m in LA area. I figure I could ship them out if necessary

I wonder if Joey or Gary can do this. Steve Soest is in Orange County, I think he could do this if he still works on guitars.

Wait - why??? Are these the older "hot toasters?" And you want scatterwound? Don't ruin those hot toasters, if so, just sell 'em and buy scats. There are people who love those hot toasters - and you can't get them anymore.

How much can I expect to earn from my toasters? New ones are gonna set me back 450.

If you're patient you should be able to trade for a set of scatterwound ones. Try listing them on Reverb (and ebay I guess) and see what happens! Be real clear about when they were made (year is ideal) and if you can do a pic showing the readings on an ohmmeter that would be great too.

I would contact Sergio at viewforum.php?f=33 if we can find him.

+1. I unwound a high gain pickup that was trashed anyway to get a little more top end out of it, and the 44 AWG wire is so fine it is the most royal PITA. If they are "hot" toasters (@12k), you should be able to sell them for enough to get new 7.4k scatterwounds.
