4003 Treble pickup position

Post by Yaremus »

I removed the pickup cover from my 4003 bass treble pickup and took the pickup out of the cavity. Is there a right way around that it should sit? I mean are all the pole pieces the same or do they correspond to a specific string?
The other issue is the pickup cuts out unless it makes contact with the bridge. Its like it shorts and doesn't work (just buzzes) unless I touch it to the metal of the bridge. Then it works again.
I'm well confused. Anyone got some light to shed?

Did you pay attention to how you disassembled everything? Make notes? Take pictures? Put things back exactly the same way you took them out, especially, regarding the ground wire with the round lug on it. Did you inadvertently break and lead wires while removing/handling the pickup?
