Rickenbacker 610 pickup problem help

Post by danoadam »

Hey guys, I bought this '88 610 a few months ago and I love it! The only issue is the neck pickup sounds very thin, no bass, almost like an out of phase setting when just on this pickup. And when I turn down the bass tone knob the volume decreases as well. It has a replaced pickguard but the wiring appears to be all original. Any thoughts? I'm thinking bad cap but not sure. The bridge pup sounds fantastic!

Have you tested the pickups on a multimeter to get readings? Could be a bad winding on the neck PU.

Nice guitar - here's a Ric 610-6 Mid Blue BH BT with original two-piece pickguard, which I owned until a few years ago.
