"Definitive" Rickenbacker Book
Any word on when this might be published? Last I heard was an oblique allusion to such a thing back in November of 2018...
Re: "Definitive" Rickenbacker Book
If it's truly a definitive book - I can't wait to check it out.
Rickenbacker is possibly the only iconic guitar brand that doesn't have a (modern) definitive history book - complete with rich color photos, archival info, production details and more. The Richard Smith book has its obvious shortcomings, although it was probably quite advanced when first published in the 1980s. There's the Tony Bacon books, which only tell part of the brand story, Paul Boyer's book which only covers basses, and the excellent Rittor book - which is in Japanese!
Even if it takes another 5+ years, I'm stoked this is even in development. Hope it has official factory production records (totals of each model etc.), to put the Richard Smith numbers to rest finally.

Sadly, it's my favorite of the Rickenbacker-specific books. Which says something!jps wrote:It is a great picture book, regardless!collin wrote:...the excellent Rittor book - which is in Japanese!
Especially in the back of the book, the author clearly goes deep on all the minutiae between the models and production years. Fabulous..
(Bonus, you can read the Rittor book in English using the Google Translate App with augmented reality. You're welcome!)

Non-augmented reality more than enough, thanks!collin wrote:...with augmented reality.
