Hi all

Anyone shipped/couriered a Ricky recently to/from UK and not needed a CITES certificate?

Rickenbacker tell me the fretboard of my 620 is made of Chechen and DEFRA in the UK tell me that is not on the CITES list. That would make life a lot easier without having to obtain a certificate.

Thanks for any info or experience.

Well, that depends on what year your guitar was made.

Correct, a Rickenbacker with a Chechen fretboard does not need a CITES permit.

If your info from RIC was in email form, it wouldn't hurt to print that out and include in the case for shipping.

Ironically the entire requirement for CITES permits with used, complete guitars is up for a vote at the next CITES meeting next month in Switzerland. Hopefully common sense will prevail, and by late summer we can freely ship instruments anywhere without this document.
