Hi

Just bought a beautiful midnight blue 620.

One thing I've noticed that I've never seem on my 330JG is that your can see the lines where the body of the guitar has been glued together. Obviously I wouldnt have seen exactly the same on 330 as its not solid body.

Im guessing these come and go in different environments and its the fact the neck and outer body parts are differents woods.

Anyone else seen that on their Ric?

I'ts normal.
Your 330 has a 2 piece body with the neck glued in, the line could be in the center. It will not necessarily appear.
Your 620 has 2 body wings glued to the sides of the neck. 2 lines can be visible.

It's even normal on a 330, with the center line visible. Though, I must add it's less pronounced (or even visible) with the new finish type, compared to the old conversion varnish.

I suppose the way around this would be to layer-on an incredibly thick clear coat and flat it down... but thick paint is the opposite of what you want in a guitar.

I've got an '08 4003 in midnight blue and I can make out the seams although they aren't super obvious. I haven't noticed any change in their appearance with humidity/temperature in the 10 years or so that I've owned it.

Humidity can certainly have an effect on most paint systems, especially the old CV (and with other brands, lacquer). The seams are visible because the finish shrinks into the gap, and sometimes even into the grain on older instruments.

When I had a 620 MID you could see it if you angled it a certain way in the light.

I’ve seen it in more than one RIC. It’s normal.

In some cases you can even feel the seams with your fingers.
