Cleaning Mapleglo 330/6

Hi Everyone
I bought a 330/6 in Mapleglo from a website in the UK called rickysounds.co.uk The guy specialises in Rickenbackers and spare parts for Ricks. It was sold to me on the basis it was OLD/NEW made in 2009.
Now I don't know what the guy was cleaning it with but it just gets sticky so easily. I've tried cleaning it with Brillianise which I use on my 660/6 and it comes up really well but on the 330 it is very short lived, I feel I need to wipe the guitar over with soapy water or detergent to get off whatever was used prior to me getting it. Anybody got any suggestions or advice ?
While I'm on here this supposed old/new guitar had been registered on here with an owner's address in the USA which makes me think it was probably second hand but it is mint so I am not bothered but remember the name Rickysounds!

Rickysounds is well know around these here parts. I don't know whether that is in a positive, or, a negative light, but given your experience, it seems the latter would apply.

Andy, I hope it is out of the case and breathing air that is not too humid. The extremes of too dry or too wet can take their toll.

I play it quite regularly and to be honest the humdity here has not been too bad this summer.
The 660/12 is still boxed at my sons in Texas in a cool closet so it should be ok. I go out this Sunday and can't wait to see it. ( And of course my son daughter in law and grand children)
The guys in the shop say you should always slacken strings prior to sending anywhere which I didn't know which is handy to know.
I've decided to send by either Fedex or uPs back to the UK. It's going to cost me plus tax but I'm old now and it's the guitar I want.

Oddly enough, if you search this Forum, you'll find that the general practice is to not slacken the strings for shipping. FWIW, when I sold and shipped a 325v63 to the U.K. some time back, it was with the strings at pitch, and it arrived fine.

Oddly enough, if you search this Forum, you'll find that the general practice is to not slacken the strings for shipping. FWIW, when I sold and shipped a 325v63 to the U.K. some time back, it was with the strings at pitch, and it arrived fine.
Strings at pitch, and pad the headstock well, while in the case, so it can't move in any direction.

i take on board what you are saying but I can see the point they're getting at We all know tuning fluctuates with different temperatures. So i think they are talking minimal adjustment for travel and to be honest I can see the sense in that.
No doubt I will be bombarded by those who disagree.

After a bit more investigation I have found out that a mixture of white vinegar and water 0n a damp cloth is actually ideal to clean off dirt and old polish WITHOUT damaging the guitar. I googled cleaning and Professor Green's Cleaning gear looked favourite but he has just stopped trading. Good information on Premier Guitar.
