From the RRF register, Slant frets were seen on Rickenbackers as early as late 1969 until about 1982. Presumably to make instruments more comfortable to play with regard to chording. Many players did not find the feel comfortable. Rickenbacker put slanted frets on some 300 models early on but for the most part the practice was assigned to the model 481.
