I didin't know I *needed* a Ric until I found this place.

I'm thankful for the efforts to keep the site up and running, and the useful (and polite) discourse here.

20 years for me this November...time surely does fly. Came over from the old alt.guitar.rickenbacker newsgroup. I have been very fortunate to get to know many of you over the years and even meet some of you as well. Thank you Peter for providing us a forum where we can talk, discuss, and dissect our favorite guitars and basses. Here's to 20 more years!!! :D :D :D

Congratulations Peter! I remember almost 15 years ago when Rickenbacker sent you one of their new guitar stand/cases full of schwag that we all signed from their 75th Anniversary confluence. Can you post a pic of it with all of the signatures?

Happy 20 Years, RRF! In late November, I'll have been aware and a member of this site for 13 years. Thanks to all the people who I've made friends with over the years, and all the fun I've had at the SoCal meetups I attended back in the day. These days, I've got three Rics in my stable.

Although I don't post like I used to 1/64th of the amount that I did up to five years ago, I still check in every now and again, as there is a treasure trove of wonderful and knowledgeable information about some of the finest electric guitars out there.
Hey Jake nice to read your post.
Hoping your well mate.

Again, I continue to check in here a few times a day, just to see what's new. I also stop by the RIC website, but there's not much activity there nowadays. Alas, this, I'm sure, is due in part to the apparent abandonment and lack of website maintenance by RIC since Mr. John Hall retired. I used to do searches there -- lots of knowledge and experience, esp. that provided by Mr. Hall. But it's nearly non-functional for my needs: You can do a search and see the array of search results -- abbreviated text boxes with a bit of the respective replies within. About one-third of the page is full of repetitious error warnings. When you "click" (select) one of the search results, you get another one-third or so page of error/warning messages, but this time, all the replies within the thread are missing -- the text boxes are empty, as if the replies were deleted.... Too bad....

So, Peter, thanks for maintaining the RRF. As someone who will never have a Facebook account, this is pretty much it for me and a Rick web connection. If there is ever anything I can do for you/RRF, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks.

I was a lurker for almost two years and then joined in 2005, while still in high school. I was very active checking the site those days in the mid 2000s and really enjoyed everyone's active dialogue and getting to know the different personalities on the site. In 2008, while in college I went to Australia to study abroad and reached out to some of the Aussie membership to try and meetup. They couldn't be more welcoming. When I told my parents that at 19 I was going to meetup on the other side of the world with a bunch of guitar collectors/rickenbacker enthusiasts that I met on the internet and stay with them while on break from my studies, they really didn't know what to think!!! If only I could have seen my mother's face.

I flew across Australia and Howard met me at the airport and I had the most incredible time with him and Darren and other folks from the Melbourne contingent. I got to see their homes and get a tour of the major sites, while also being allowed to play some legendary guitars :D I'll always remember their kindness and hospitality and the memories from my trip. I also made it to Sydney and had a blast with Brett D. and can't wait to get back and see all these folks and introduce my partner to their wonderful families.

Always thankful to this forum for what it's done.

Congrats, Peter, and thanks for keeping this site up and running!

I've been collecting Ricks for 25 years and stumbled upon this site in 2002. The Forum (and the Register) have been a valuable source of information and a great opportunity to meet fellow Rick colleagues.

Many friendships formed here.
