Serial number?

For the most part yes, although you will find some exceptions to this rule such as in the case of the Model 450 for where the serial number has been seen on the bridgeplate. The acoustic models would also be another exception to the rule.

Excellent point Glen and one that has been commented on in an earlier topic. It would seem that one explanation may be that the jackplate was replaced at some point.

Perhaps Mark was saying the serial is always on the jackplate for a 360 model. Another exception to the rule is my 260 model, which has the serial number on the plate where the neck and body bolt together.
Speaking of registrations, I still contend Reg 1588 is NOT a 260. A 260 made in 1965???

Yes, I am sure Mark meant on 360s. I did not read his post as carefully as I should have. Thanks for the reminder about registration # 1588.

Dr: Was this serial number as difficult as you thought it would be?
